Helping mission-driven organizations navigate consequential moments.

Druck Davis Advisory works with boards, presidents, and public officials at moments of financial and institutional consequence — pressure, transition, transformation — when the choices are difficult, the path forward is unclear, and no single function owns the problem.

The work helps the people responsible for an organization understand what is actually happening, choose well, and see the decision through.

Approach

The work

One of the most powerful things a mission-driven organization can do is run itself well. Wasted time, energy, and resources are wasted mission. The organizations that endure are cared for deliberately: resources aligned with purpose, hard decisions made early, capable people given the conditions to do their best work.

That is harder than it sounds. Organizations rarely struggle for lack of talent or conviction. They struggle because inertia is strong, structures outlive the problems they were built to solve, accountability blurs, and pressure from outside rarely pauses long enough for anyone to think.

I work through that with the people who have to act on it — finding the real problem beneath the stated one, naming the handful of choices that matter, and staying until those choices are made, explained, and underway.

Most engagements begin with a focused assessment of the situation. Some continue as ongoing counsel to a president, board chair, or executive team. Others center on a single consequential decision or a defined period of institutional pressure. Scope and duration are established at the outset.

Collaboration

Working with others

Druck Davis Advisory was built around a conviction that the hardest institutional problems are solved by teams, and that assembling the right one is part of the work. Those problems rarely sit within a single discipline.

I assemble each engagement for the situation — turnaround, real estate, governance, capital markets — and work alongside the advisors and firms an organization already trusts. Conversations with practitioners whose work touches the same or related ground are always welcome.

Principal

Liza Druck Davis

Liza has spent her career working inside complex public and mission-driven institutions, often on hard problems that lacked a clear or easy answer.

Most recently, she served as Associate Vice President for Finance and Treasury at the University of Pennsylvania, where she led the University’s debt, liquidity, and treasury strategy and worked closely with the Trustees during a period of heightened uncertainty for higher education.

Before Penn, Liza was Deputy State Treasurer of Delaware, overseeing public investments, debt, and tax-advantaged savings programs. She directed federal recovery funds to local governments statewide and co-authored Delaware EARNS, the state’s first state-facilitated retirement savings program. Earlier in her career, she worked in municipal fiscal and operational intervention at The PFM Group and in Cincinnati city government.

Across those settings, the pattern has been consistent: learning complicated institutions quickly, connecting perspectives that are often held separately, making difficult tradeoffs visible, and helping people move from analysis to action.

Liza holds an MPA with a certificate in public finance from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in political science from the University of Cincinnati. She lives in Delaware with her husband and three young children.
